Wakeful Morning Favors

"Everyone deserves to be forgiven. This is your chance at a new beginning and I, Fantasia, assure you, that all your sins will be forgiven in time. Luke, your title is now the Humble, and I know you will make me, and yourself, proud."

Opening my eyes, I stared at the ceiling of my room, waiting for the gold and blue designs above to become crystal clear. After a few blinks and a yawn, they did, leaving me to wonder what time it was.

From the hint of sunlight that snuck into the room through the thick golden curtains, I knew it had to be morning. Maybe even midday.

I felt something brush my legs, and after a few little taps against my bare legs and up my body, I realized Rainbow somehow managed to get in here.

She was a Jinn cat, after all. She could poof in and out if she wanted.

With a smile on my face, the little kitten's head popped into view, her rainbow eyes that were currently switching between the shades pink and orange locking onto mine.

"Meow."

"Morning, Rainbow," I replied, using my left hand to stroke her head. She settled in her position, her lower half on my neck and upper half chilling on my chin.

Purring away, it dawned on me that my right arm was wrapped comfortably around something and my smile widened when I remembered about last night.

Yesterday's wish hit a nerve inside me, one I thought would have faded by now. Two Jinn years had passed since that day.

Which is equivalent to…I don't know, 28 years in human time? Damn…I wonder if Destiny likes older guys? Hmm. I should tell her about that.

My original plan wasn't to do a wish so close to home, especially with Destiny present, but I couldn't ignore it any longer. Holding it off any longer could have me arriving far too late to help Adam.

I was scared that Destiny would see right through me. Or afraid she'd dislike the person I was before I'd become a Jinn.

Scared of being judged for the person I was in the past, one that I've tried to erase.

Some habits I couldn't erase. Like my ability to dance pretty well or my high alcohol tolerance. I didn't get drunk, and if I drank too much, it just made me super sleepy. Nothing a nap couldn't solve.

I could tell after Adam's departure that Destiny had questions, but I was impressed she hadn't asked them during dinner. It would have been the perfect opportunity for anyone else if they wanted information or were curious about what had just occurred. Yet she didn't bring it up, instead asking about my interests, dislikes, and other general stuff you'd ask on a typical date.

That alone astonished me, making it a little easier to explain it all when I gave her the opportunity. That side of the arcade was always popping at night, but for one night, it was just Destiny and me, as if Mother Fantasia had planned it all.
